昨年、3回の入院と手術を経験し、体が思うように動かなくなった時、「自分をあきらめる」ことを学び、その中にある豊かさを感じた。「いき」の要素のひとつにも、この「あきらめ」が含まれていると考える。あれもこれもやらなければと何かに縛られたり、あれもこれも欲しいと欲望に溺れたりする状態ではなく、それらを手放すことで本当に大切なものが見えてくるのだと感じた。その気づきの瞬間は、何かに傷ついたり、苦しんだりして心が裸になるような辛い時かもしれない。しかし、それこそが辛くも美しい瞬間であり、その感覚を表現した。 この思想を表現するため、MAISUZKIは釘を使わず木を組み合わせて紋様を作る伝統技術「組子」とデジタルファブリケーションを掛け合わせた唯一無二の柔軟性のある組子技術で作品を制作した。パズルのようにパーツを組み合わせるだけで本作品は作られた。 Last year, I experienced three hospitalizations and surgeries, during which I learned the meaning of "letting go of oneself" and discovered the richness it holds. I believe that "resignation" is one of the elements of iki. Instead of being bound by the mindset of "I must do this and that" or drowning in desires for "I want this and that," I felt that by letting go of such attachments, one can begin to see what truly matters. The moment of realization likely comes when one is hurt, suffering, and stripped bare emotionally. However, that moment is both painful and beautiful, and it was this sensation that I sought to express. To express this philosophy, MAISUZKI used a unique Kumiko technique, combining traditional wooden patterns without nails with digital fabrication.The piece was created simply by assembling parts like a puzzle.
