本展示は「粋」についてさまざまな視点で探求するアーティスト鈴木舞による、「粋」＝「よしづくし」を体現した空間である。 江戸時代末期に活躍した絵師・歌川国芳は「浮世よしづくし」という絵を残している。「きげんがよし」「うんがよし」「夢でもよし」「いつでもよし」「丁度よし」「どちらでもよし」...。日々起こるさまざまなことを、なんでも「よし」と受け入れて、落ち込んだり恨んだりしない、ポジティブシンキングの名人であった江戸っ子の、「粋」な心のありようを表現したものである。現代に目を向けてみるとどうだろうか。特に「伝統」という言葉のつく世界では、「伝統だから」を理由に、新たなチャレンジや変革に対して、「これはダメ」「あれはダメ」となにかと「ダメ」がつきやすいように感じる。確かに守り抜くべき部分がある一方で、なんでも「よし」と一度受け入れてみると、未知なる可能性が見えてくるのではないだろうか。そこで私は伝統工藝「組子よしづくし」を組んでみようと思う。 This immersive installation embodies the Japanese aesthetic of “iki”, interpreted as “Yoshi-Zukushi”, by artist Mai Suzki, who explores iki from various perspectives.The term Yoshi-Zukushi originates from Edo-period artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi and his work Ukiyo Yoshi-Zukushi, which celebrates all things “YOSHI = Good” — good mood, good luck, good dreams, good anytime, just right, either way is good. It reflects the iki spirit of Edo people: accepting everything with grace and positivity. In today’s world, especially within “traditional” fields, we often say no to new ideas. What new possibilities might unfold if we began by embracing everything as “Yoshi” (good)?　I attempt to create my own Kumiko Yoshi-Zukushi, blending traditional craft with contemporary sensibility.
